EN: The ‘Your San Joaquin Valley’ project is a collaboration between Valley Forward and USC students as part of the Landscape Justice Initiative’s ongoing research in environmental and climate equity in the lower San Joaquin Valley (SJV). This ongoing component of the project consisted of an interview, a mapping exercise, and a photo survey with SJV residents to learn more about how they see and value their community in the lower San Joaquin Valley. 

Valley Forward and USC worked together to learn more about how residents see and value their community in the lower San Joaquin Valley. Through these meetings, we aimed to better understand what it means to live, work, and raise families in this complex region.

ES: El proyecto “Tú Valle de San Joaquín” es parte de una investigación sobre desigualdad medioambiental en el área sur del Valle de San Joaquín. El proyecto es en colaboración entre Valley Forward y estudiantes de la Universidad del Sur de California (USC). Para saber más sobre cómo los residentes del sur del Valle de San Joaquín valoran y ven su comunidad se llevaron a cabo una serie de entrevistas con residentes de la comunidad, donde los entrevistados dibujaron un mapa e hicieron un levantamiento fotográfico de su comunidad.    

Valley Forward y USC trabajaron juntos para entender mejor cómo los residentes ven y valoran su comunidad en el sur del Valle de San Joaquín. A través de estas entrevistas se pudo entender mejor lo que significa vivir, trabajar y criar familias en esta región tan compleja.
